There is also a question mark as to Smart Environmental’s involvement with the Waimate incinerator proposal, given that founder, board member and shareholder Graham Christian has been appointed a director of Renew Energy. Smart Environmental’s website states that the waste management company does not own or operate any landfills in New Zealand, perhaps providing incentive to find more cost effective means of waste disposal.

Smart Environmental has been contacted for comment, but the company has not replied.
